A dichroic acrylic installation strung across the courtyard of Dhal Ni Pol, reading the pol’s heritage fabric through reflected colour. It was part of the Traces and Territory exhibit, and grew out of ARCHV’s study T4D — The 4th Dimension.
Titled Traces and Territory, this is a site-specific dichroic acrylic installation built inside Dhal Ni Pol, one of the historic walled neighborhoods of old Ahmedabad. The panels catch the pol's light and throw it back in shifting color, reading the heritage fabric through reflection rather than restoration.
Installation
Dichroic acrylic, laser cut and suspended across the courtyard of Dhal Ni Pol, a piece of ARCHV’s study T4D — The 4th Dimension. Every piece was cut from dichroic acrylic sheet, the cut file below, and strung on wire across the open courtyard, over the heads of people passing beneath. As the light moves through the day, the panels split it into shifting colour and throw it back onto the pol’s walls and windows.
